Whether you are an employee or a stay at home parent, it seems that more and more people are choosing to find a way that they can work from home. Here are what I think are 7 of the best reasons to work from home:
- More time to spend with the children and family because you have more control over your time.
- You can make money from home doing what you love in an online business of your own.
- You ARE your own boss. Soooo many reasons this works for me.
- Can get more done with fewer interruptions so one does not have to work long hours.
- You get to learn new skills and grow as a professional and entrepreneur.
- Did you know that there are certain TAX BENIFITS to having a home based business?
- You can save BIG TIME on all that fuel you pay for to get to and from work. We would all like that, I think.
1. More time to spend with the children and family because you have more control over your time.
Many people feel that their “Regular” job takes too much of their time and they don’t have time to pursue the things they are passionate about or just plain enjoy doing. Having an online business and doing it at home makes it possible to be flexible with your hours so you have more time for your family.
If you are homeschooling your children you can even fit is time while they are doing their school work. Getting a handle on the family/work schedule will probably be necessary and will take a little time to work out but, with some thought and planning, you will be able to work out a routine in a short time frame.
2. You can make money from home doing what you love in an online business of your own.
Absolutely. If you have a hobby or a product Idea that you can make you can sell it online on your own website. Or, perhaps you’re into healthy eating and exercise, BINGO there’s another niche idea.
Perhaps you like photography or reading or just have a special interest you would like to write about. All of these can be very profitable niches, in fact doing something online you are passionate about has a better chance of success.
3. You are your own BOSS
How many of you wouldn’t like to NOT set your alarm clock for 6 AM just so you can spend an hour, or more in traffic just to get to work and then do it all over again to get home.
Another reason? You don’t have anyone to answer to but yourself and you can wear what you want. You can even work in you P-J’s if you want cause there is no one around to tell you any different. I like that idea.
You don’t have to punch in at the beginning of the day and you don’t have to punch out. You can set your own hours. If you work better in the evening, that’s OK as well.
Don’t ever worry about being late or sick or taking holidays when THEY want you to because YOU’RE THE BOSS. Speaking of taking holidays, If you have your own online business you can do it anywhere you can find a secure WiFi connection which means you can go away anytime you want, when you want and where you want.

4. Can get more done with fewer interruptions so you don’t have to work long hours.
Because your time is your own and you can develop a plan for your day, you will be able to get more done in less time which will give you more time to do the things you love to do on your time off.
To have this happen, you WILL have to be plan conscious otherwise distractions are inevitable. I know, because that used to be me.
5. You get to learn new skills and grow as a professional and entrepreneur.
Whether you are a beginner or not and, you like to learn new things, having an online business is an excellent way to learn new skills. That can be and is a big problem in most jobs where, as an employee many jobs are repetitive, doing the same thing day in and day out.
In a “stay at home” business you have an opportunity to learn new skills like SEO, keyword research, creating a great looking website (which isn’t scary at all with today’s WordPress themes), learning how to write great content for your posts and, adding internal and external links, creating images with a free product called “Canva”
And, don’t be put off because you don’t have any experience or knowledge, there are some good training programs on the Internet that will teach you everything you need to be a successful online blogger/marketer.
6. TAX BENEFITS – This is one I really like.
Did you know that there are tax benefits to operating a business from home? That’s right. In my country, a person with a home business can legitimately write off part of their electricity bill, their phone bill, their heating bill and even some of their annual car insurance and fuel expenses.
Of course, you would have to check out the tax rules in your own country to see if you have similar deductions and you would also have to save all your bank statements and receipts as well. Doing a spreadsheet on your computer would help with that a lot.
7. You can save BIG TIME on all that fuel you pay for to get to and from work.
How many of you like that. In my area the cost of Gasoline is $1.50+ a liter and, they say it could go as high as a $1.60+ by summer. If one has to travel thirty or forty kilometers to work and back every day, the fuel bill for the care alone could be in the $300-$400 range and even more if you drive a truck. There seems to be no end to the increases. It’s outrageous
Just think about how much you could save by not having to drive your car/truck to work and back every day.
Be your own boss, set your own hours, work in your p-jays, TAX CREDITS, saving on auto fuel, learning new skills, and making money doing what you are passionate about. These are some pretty good reasons to try the “at home online business” plan for freedom.
These are only some of the reasons among many. I’m sure you could think of a few more yourself. Yes, there is the potential for the negative side as well but, dedication, commitment and consistency and the proper training, will get you the results you are looking for whether it’s enough to help make the ends of your finances meet at the end of the month, or striving for the freedom to travel when you want to, places you wouldn’t otherwise get to if you were stuck in the 9-5 or.
What do you think? Does this sound viable, do you think this would work for you? Have I missed anything? If you have any questions or comments about anything you have read in this post or, anywhere else on my website, please leave a comment in the space below.
Your comments and questions are important to me and they help me to grow as well. I will reply to all of them usually within a day or two.
